For my project on Bhoota Kola, I traveled to Mangalore in Karnataka, marking my first visit to South India. Immersed in the vibrant celebration of Bhoota Kola, a traditional spirit worship of the Tulu community, I found myself moved by the ceremony, even though I couldn’t fully understand the language. The intensity of the rituals, the rhythmic drumming, the dramatic performances and the presence of the deities connected me deeply to a rich cultural experience and an overwhelming sense of emotion filled the air as I witnessed this powerful and sacred tradition in person.
